We accomplished a lot together in 2025. All in all, together we funded nearly 25% of the MIYFS Department, and in partnership with the City of MI and City Council, we ensured MIYFS’s critical services remain fully funded. This is community support in action.
Food Security
- 143 households utilized food cards (1/1 – 4/24)
- 93 households (1776 visits) utilized the Mobile Market (4/25 – 12/31)
Emergency Assistance
292 households utilized holiday and back to school programs (supplies, gifts, additional food)
Senior Supports
- 67 seniors and adult children received individualized case management group support services.
- 50 in-home sessions were provided to seniors with mobility or transportation issues.
- 100 seniors attended (76 returned) the SAIL Falls Prevention Classes beginning in July 2025. 33 seniors attended classes 2-3 times/week on average.
School-Based Mental Health Counselors
In 2025, all 3,820 elementary, middle, and high school students in the Mercer Island schools received support from YFS School-Based, Mental Health Counselors either in classrooms, groups, at assemblies, during crises, in clubs, at Islander Hour or Gator Time, for health education/awareness, and/or for drop-in support. School staff and parents received consultations and referrals.
