Police and Fire Collaboration
As a department of the City of Mercer Island, Mercer Island Youth and Family provides on-call support to City of Mercer Island police and fire staff as they respond to calls that require mental health support. This continuity of emergency response and mental health services offers Islanders a safer community.
As a first responder we are often faced with circumstances that aren’t criminal in nature and would be best served by a mental health expert. Whether dealing with an Islander who may be unsafe or one who needs help coping, we feel lucky to have Mercer Island Youth and Family Services as a partner to call on.– Ed Holmes, Police Chief, City of Mercer Island
