VOICE / SVP
VOICE (Volunteer Outreach in Communities Everywhere) and SVP (Summer Volunteer Program) provide structured group community service opportunities to Mercer Island middle and high-school age youth. Each summer, three hundred Island youth provide over 10,000 volunteer hours to 50+ local non-profit organizations.  -more-

Natural Helpers
The Natural Helpers program that was developed and piloted by MIYFS counselors in 1979, is now a national program that trains thousands of kids annually to support their peers. Natural Helpers is just one peer development program that is taught in Mercer Island Public Schools by MIYFS counselors. -more-

Communities that Care
Mercer Island Communities That Care (MICTC) is a coalition of concerned parents, youth and community members who are joined around the common purpose of reducing the harmful effects of underage drinking and other drug use among Mercer Island youth. MICTC is operated in partnership with the City of Mercer Island’s Youth and Family Services Department. Coalition efforts take a public health, not a moralistic, perspective and use the latest brain science and prevention technology. MICTC is funded through a federal Drug Free Communities Grant and receives generous support from Island volunteers, the City of Mercer Island, the Mercer Island School District, and community partners.  -more- 

Thrift Shop
The Mercer Island Thrift Shop is a revenue-generating business that provides over 50% of Mercer Island Youth & Family Services funding. All revenues from the sale of donations goes directly to support MIYFS programs. -more-

Employment Assistance
MIYFS maintains a job boards strategically located in the community and one online board on which we post available jobs. Job seekers can review all available jobs and make a direct connection with the employer. The types of available jobs vary, with the highest number of jobs in the areas of housekeeping, clerical, yard work and child care. Jobs may be part-time, full-time, on-call or temporary. MIYFS can also help Mercer Island youth and low-income adults with resume review and assistance.  -more-
